We're back from London, where I didn't take any photos. I know. What kind of 'blogger' (though it is laughable to call myself that) doesn't tote a camera around 24-7? Instead I have my trusty iPhone, but by the time I've rummaged around in my bag to find it, typed in the password (and correctly), found the right app and actually taken a damn picture, the moment is invariably lost. Yeah, yeah, excuses, excuses, I know. Sigh.
OK, I did take one at the Imperial War Museum. It's a plane, possibly a biplane, hanging from the roof. Freaked the small one out. I found what I saw of the museum really fascinating, but there are only so many ration books, gas masks and authentic WW2 posters that kids can look at apparently, so we retired to the cafe for lunch and then out to the playground.
We also went to the zoo, which was much more fun for the children, although Sarah and I were getting rather cold and possibly even grumpy by the end. Although I didn't take a photo, there's a beautiful Modernist penguin pool (now out of use) that is so fabulous it's Grade I listed, and the old elephant house is a 1960s architectural marvel. There was also a carousel, which demanded to be ridden and ridden with glee.
Thanks to Sarah for the boundless hospitality.
