men of harlech

I am no sports fan. I come out of the woodwork only when there's a big game on. Truth is, I get far too involved, far too competitive, to watch sports calmly. But Wales vs France in the Rugby World Cup is a big deal in these here parts. In the whole of Britain, to be honest. Everyone was feeling a little bit Welsh in the run up to the big game today.

So we got up this morning and dragged two very reluctant children (and one enthusiastic auntie) to the local pub for a fry up, a free pint (some of us stuck to tea) and to watch the game. No post-game analysis here. What do I really know about rugby except that gleaned from watching my big brother play many years ago?

I'll say no more than: we lost. OK, we were robbed, to be more exact.

There will be tears in the valleys today.
